Today, Samsung India sent out a brief press release quoting the research and analyst firm, GfK, and claiming to be the top smartphone OEM “by a distance”. This was a clear dig at Xiaomi who has been aggressive with their marketing as being the No. 1 smartphone player in the country for the past couple of months. As you would expect, Xiaomi sent out its own press release within minutes of Samsung sending out their’s, refuting the claims made by Samsung and reiterating their position as India’s top smartphone OEM....

Rumor mills have been predicting this move from quiet some time but on this Wednesday, Richard Lee, chairman of laptop manufacturer Inventec said that the company would be assembling Xiaomi’s first laptops which will be shipped starting the first two quarters of 2016. He further also expressed his delight at the fact that Xiaomi already has a 200-million strong registered smartphone users, which will sort of create a baseline for the company to pitch their products....

In its circular, the IAF had accused Xiaomi of sending user data to remote servers located in China.
