The free Movie Creator app lets you create movies by using up to 25 of your own smartphone videos and photos. And it’s really easy to use, as you just need to select your footage, choose a theme, add music, and pick a few titles. You can also edit the length of your footage, move clips to different places on your video timeline, add text cards, captions, and various filters. It’s also possible to pan, zoom, and rotate. Video editing apps usually require in-app purchases to unlock longer videos, but Movie Creator allows free editing of up to 25 videos, photos or cinemagraphs with no length limitations. As Microsoft points out, Movie Creator is currently the only mobile video editor that allows you to pan and zoom video clips. It’s also possible to adjust the resolution of your video and add music, captions, and themes. There’s a variety of themes that you can choose to personalize your video, like a selection of branded themes featuring characters from popular DreamWorks animated movies like Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda. The single drawback with the app remains the fact that it is currently locked to Microsoft’s own devices. However, I feel that this is just for the beginning, because we’ve seen Microsoft adopting a totally different strategy which has culminated with the free release of Microsoft Office on mobile devices.
