Samsung Galaxy Z Flip: Design and Design

As already mentioned, the Galaxy Flip takes a different approach for its foldable form-factor with its clamshell-like design that opens up vertically, and not horizontally, unlike the Galaxy Fold from last year. The device comes in at a thickness of 7.2mm and weighs 183g. Towards the front, it features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED  display (when unfolded) with bezels all around and a tall 22:9 aspect ratio. Samsung says the display is made of an Ultra-Thin Glass, and it includes a hole-punch on top to house the front-facing camera and offers a screen resolution of 2636 x 1080 pixels, along with HDR10+ support. Besides, since it’s foldable, the device also features a small 1.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a 300 x 116 pixels screen resolution on the outside for displaying basic information like date, time, weather, battery status, notifications, etc. The Z Flip comes in two color options: Mirror Purple and Mirror Black.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip: Performance

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor with Adreno 640 GPU, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage (no microSD card support). It includes a 3300mAh battery with 15W wired charging and support for reverse wireless charging. The device uses a dual battery, similar to the Galaxy Fold, with one of the batteries coming in at 900mAh and the other offering a capacity of 2400mAh. On the software front, the device runs on Android 10 with Samsung OneUI 2.1 running on top. As for other specifications, the Z Flip comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C, for connectivity, and also includes a fingerprint sensor and face recognition for authentication.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip: Camera

In the camera department, the Galaxy Z Flip comes equipped with a dual-camera setup on the rear, which includes a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 12MP secondary wide-angle sensor with 123-degree field-of-view (FoV). The rear camera offers up to 8x digital zoom, HDR10+ recording, and OIS. Towards the front, the device sports a 10MP selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture and auto-focus capabilities.
