As rumoured earlier Xiaomi Mi 5s and the 5s Plus herald with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is touted to be more accurate than the usual fingerprint sensor. Also, Xiaomi claims that the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor will not take much damage due to regular wear and tear since it is nonporous in nature. The Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner also means that there are no openings around the fingerprint sensor and thus it can be integrated seamlessly into the screen panel. In a nutshell, the fingerprint sensor doesn’t protrude in any manner and is completely enclosed within a glass layer. Xiaomi Mi 5s is fitted with an FHD 5.15-inch display along with the 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protective layer and on the memory front, the Mi 5s will be offered in 64GB and 128GB variants. Furthermore, Xiaomi Mi 5s employs a large 1/ 2.3” photosensitive element which is expected to result in better performance at night without losing on the quality front. The dual tone LED flash with the 12-Megapixel 1.55um Sony IMX378 sensor is expected to help out with low light photography. Secondary camera shapes up in the form of a 4-Megapixel sensor. The Xiaomi Mi 5s will be powered by Snapdragon 821 and will be offered in two variant’s, the 3GB RAM/64GB Storage variant that costs 1999 Yuan (apprx.Rs 19,000) and the 4GB RAM/128GB Storage variant that retails at 2299 Yuan (apprx. Rs 22,900).

Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus comes equipped with a larger 5.7-inch display with 2.5D glass that offers 600nit of brightness, NTSC color gamut coverage up to 95% and will come with pressure sensitivity support. The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus is powered by the Snapdragon 821 clocked at 2.35GHz. Connectivity options on both the devices include 4G with 3x carrier aggregation, NFC and UFS 2.0. The camera setup in the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus includes a 12-Megapixel primary sensor which is actually a Sony IMX 378 dual camera setup. The standard RGB sensor is trusted with the task of capturing the color while the black and white sensor is responsible for recording the information. The device also touts a ClearSight technology which is expected to generate highly detailed, less noise and high-quality images. The Mi 5s Plus comes in two variants, 4GB RAM/64GB Storage priced at 2299 Yuan (apprx. Rs 22,900) and 6GB RAM/128GB Storage priced at 2599 Yuan (apprx.Rs 25,900). Both the new phones are expected to go one sale in China starting from September 29th.
